For a number of years now, I’ve wanted to communicate with the world at large via a blog. I enjoy other people’s blogs and I enjoy writing, so why shouldn’t I “give it a go” and write my own blog? Well, in my experience, that’s way easier said than done!
The first problem was what to blog about.
What do I have to say that somebody else wants to read? I attempted a general-topics blog a few years back that lasted all of 2 weeks (4 posts) before I got bored of the content. If the blogger herself is bored with the content it doesn’t bode well for the reader.
The second problem was the look and feel of the blog.
I usually have a strong opinion about what looks good but I lack the full skill set and patience to achieve that look. I like simplicity, I’m very sensitive to color. I could (and did) spend hours tweaking a blog template and still could not get the look just right. This was a definite roadblock to creating a blog that I could live with.
The third problem was my computer.
I had an ailing laptop cast-off that was heavy, prone to overheating, and needed to be plugged in all the time. It took forever to power up, didn’t always find the wireless network, and made a loud whirring noise at inopportune times. It was not conducive to “whipping up” a quick blog post.
Enter a profusely blooming Hellebore, a nifty feather-weight Netbook with a battery life of 8 hours, and super-duper WordPress templates, and here I am, once again, back in the blogosphere.
This time around, I pledge to blog about my passion for gardens, gardening, and plants. I pledge to share the pleasures of a magnificent blooming Hellebore, of finding new shade-loving plants, or the frustrations removing English Ivy for the “nth” time from the same location. I am renewed, enthused, and equipped to blog!
